Overview

EGC Construction, part of the Messer family of companies, is seeking a structural steel welder for their steel erection group in Newport, KY. The company focuses on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction while servicing local, regional, and international clients since 1978.

Responsibilities

• Weld structural steel connections for new and retrofit steel erection projects.
• Inspect welds as necessary to meet product specifications.
• Fit, connect, and bolt up structural steel.
• Cut steel with a torch and grind as needed.
• Assist with steel erection connecting and bolt up.
• Perform equipment rigging.
• Erect pre-engineered metal buildings.
• Follow job site safety regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Identify safety hazards to protect self and others.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Transportation and good communication skills are required.
• Willingness to work within a 50-mile radius; travel to other states is a plus.
• Ability to work in a variety of seasonal and weather conditions.
• Must possess all auditory, speaking, and communicating capabilities.
• Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50lbs.
