Overview
The Sheetmetal - Repair position involves fabricating, assembling, removing, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment, including air conditioning and heating systems. The role requires the use of hand and power tools and the ability to read blueprints, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Set up tools, accessories, and supplies at the job site.
- Remove, modify, fabricate, and install ventilation ducts, cabinets, shelves, and other equipment.
- Review blueprints and sketches, and layout material according to specifications.
- Cut, drill, rivet, and weld sheet metal.
- Operate a variety of power tools.
- Perform other job duties as assigned relevant to the trade.
Requirements
- Previous experience in metal works is an asset.
- Must be able to read blueprints and understand the layout of a ship.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills required.
- Layout and drafting courses are helpful.
- Welding certification is desired but not required.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to hear warning signals and comprehend safety instructions.
