Overview

Valmont Industries is a Fortune 1000 company that focuses on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Tube Line Welder position involves production welding and tack welding to assemble pole shafts using the GMAW process.

Responsibilities

• Perform production welding and tack welding to assemble pole shafts.
• Use GMAW process to tack weld various components to create pole assemblies.
• Manually position shafts and use jib crane for lifting components.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed for assembly.
• Use plasma torch to cut steel and jigs for cutting holes in shafts.
• Measure distances and angles using measuring tools.
• Work in confined areas to assemble components accurately.
• Use motorized grinders, buffers, and drills for assembly.
• Maintain safety awareness and report unsafe conditions.
• Consult management about training needs and safety concerns.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 6 months previous welding experience in manufacturing or fabrication.
• Must pass GMAW 1-G flat plate and/or rotational weld test.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year previous experience welding in an assembly environment preferred.
• 1 year previous experience operating hand and/or power tools preferred.
• Ability to check one's own work for quality assurance.
