Overview

Responsibilities

• Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble and repair heavy construction equipment.
• Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry and welding techniques.
• Positions and fits components together, securing them with bolts, clamps, and tack-welds.
• Sets up equipment and welds parts using various welding techniques.
• May assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
• May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to rate information using measurable standards.
• Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Ability to visualize flat drawings and blueprints as solid objects.
