Overview
The Brake Press and Saw Operator - Fabricator I position involves setting up and operating fabrication equipment to form metal parts according to specifications. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate one or two pieces of fabrication equipment of basic to moderate complexity.
- Select dies, tools, and punches for proper thickness of material.
- Form material according to drawings using various radius dies.
- Install and align punches and dies for required operations.
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures.
- Conduct first piece and in-progress inspections to ensure work meets requirements.
- Adjust stroke, feed equipment, and safety devices.
- Monitor condition of equipment and tooling and inform supervisor when maintenance is needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
- Train others in performance of fabrication tasks as needed.
- Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation.
- Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret basic to moderately complex drawings and bills of material.
- Experience operating fabrication machinery such as press brake and punch press.
- Experience using small hand and power tools.
- Basic computer skills.
- High School diploma, GED, or combination of work experience and skill development.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Up to one year of experience working as a metal fabricator in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
