Overview

The Lead Fabricator position involves the fabrication of metal sculptures using various welding techniques in San Francisco. The role requires collaboration with the shop manager and adherence to safety protocols while maintaining a clean workspace.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate metal sculptures using MIG and TIG welding techniques.
• Follow drawings and artist verbal descriptions for accurate construction.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols.
• Collaborate with shop manager to troubleshoot issues and improve processes.
• Attend staff meetings as necessary.
• Provide updates to supervisors when asked.
• Participate in offsite installation of sculptures, with possible weekend work.
• Assist with unloading/loading of materials.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties as assigned.
• Maintain par sheet and inventory levels.

Requirements

• Basic understanding and experience with welding techniques and safety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Stay compliant with required certifications, including HR-related certifications.
• Familiarity with hand tools and welding equipment.
• Understanding of metallurgy and welding principles.
• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in fabrication.
• OSHA ten hour training.
• Computer rendering/CAD skills.

Additional Information

• Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 12pm to 6:30pm, with a minimum of 30 hours and a maximum of 40 hours.
