Overview
The Boilermaker Tech II role involves performing maintenance boilermaker and welding tasks on various equipment and projects. ASARCO LLC emphasizes safety and environmental responsibility in its operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance boilermaker/welding tasks on Shovels and Drills, Fleet trucks, and project repairs.
- Analyze welding procedures for specific metallurgical properties.
- Identify materials and adjust welding according to material.
- Design, layout, fabricate, and analyze metal failures and repairs.
- Fabricate, fit, and weld materials from blueprints and drawings.
- Operate hand and power tools.
- Use measuring tools and shop support equipment like forklifts and cranes.
- Follow instructions and directions with minimal supervision.
- Understand and practice all safety procedures.
Requirements
- Ability to perform MIG and TIG welding, air arc, and wire feed welding.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to meet physical demands in a challenging work environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills for consensus building.
- Good communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to manage time effectively and set priorities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical School or one to two years related experience and/or state approved apprenticeship.
- Boilermaker/Welder (Vertical and Overhead Welding) Certification required.
