This role offers the opportunity to grow your bench skills in a true custom environment, working alongside experienced jewelers who are committed to mentorship and excellence.
Responsibilities
- Support the fabrication and finishing of custom and repair jewelry projects according to established timelines.
- Perform sizing, soldering, assembly, polishing, and general bench work on gold and platinum jewelry.
- Assist with stone setting, including melee and specialty shapes, ensuring precision and care.
- Maintain proper handling of all diamonds and gemstones to prevent damage or loss.
- Follow direction from senior bench jewelers and leadership while continuing to develop technical skills.
- Use appropriate tools and equipment, including microscopes, laser welders, and polishing equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
- Communicate clearly with team members regarding project status, challenges, or delays.
- Uphold Underwoods’ quality standards, prioritizing craftsmanship over speed.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support shop operations.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of bench jeweler experience and/or formal jewelry training.
- Foundational knowledge of jewelry repair, assembly, and finishing techniques.
- Experience working with gold and platinum preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to follow instruction and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Positive attitude with a desire to learn and grow.
- Experience with stone setting (melee, channel, bezel, pavé, etc.).
- Exposure to CAD design and/or 3D printing.
- Experience with laser welding or engraving.
- Jewelry-related certifications or formal education.
