Overview
As a Welder, you will be responsible for MIG welding on mild steel using weld prints to produce quality products. The role involves operating equipment safely and maintaining a clean work area while working with heavy materials.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment in a safe manner and report hazards to the Facilities & Maintenance Department.
- Weld in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Weld heavy mild steel material with thickness ranging from 1/16” to 2”.
- Read and interpret weld prints.
- Read a tape measure accurately.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Participate in physical inventory cycles and year-end counts.
Requirements
- Forklift experience is a huge plus.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules and operating instructions.
- Effective communication skills to interact with workers, supervisors, and other departments.
- Physical strength to lift up to 50 lbs. and hold heavy metal pieces during welding.
- Stamina to work long hours on feet, often in hot or loud conditions, and ability to climb ladders.
- Good vision including color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
