Overview

The Certified Welder role at Wells involves assisting in the production of steel products through various tasks such as cutting steel and moving materials, while adhering to safety requirements. The company emphasizes teamwork, safety, and quality in creating structures that support communities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the production of steel products by performing a variety of duties.
  • Perform housekeeping and follow safety requirements.
  • Cut steel and move materials throughout the facility.
  • Cut welded assemblies to blueprint specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Must possess a welding certification (3G or 4G preferred).
  • Must be able to pass welding test for GMAW and SMAW.
  • Previous work experience in cutting and welding.
  • Ability to read production drawings.
  • Clear knowledge of basic measurements and ability to read a tape measure within 16th of an inch.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of tools, including hammer, measuring tape, drill press, band saw, and ironworker.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours.
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently.
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards.
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather.
