Overview
The Pan Welder - 1st Shift position is a shop hourly role focused on leading a small team in the Pan Factory, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity while mentoring junior mechanics and assisting department leadership. The role emphasizes BAC's core values of trust, responsibility, courage, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Own personal and team safety by observing all safety rules and using proper safety equipment.
- Plan, organize, and direct activities in the Pan and Tri-Armor Departments.
- Coordinate on-time delivery of Pans to assembly lines with the Station Leader.
- Sign off on the TriArmor work procedure checklist daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Oversee the welding passivation process and maintain inventory of consumables.
- Ensure all Pans meet BAC's quality requirements through testing.
- Utilize standard work to assemble mechanical support assemblies to specification.
- Operate equipment to maximize productivity and quality.
- Safely operate jib cranes and/or overhead cranes.
- Train junior mechanics to achieve technical and professional expertise.
- Provide leadership in the absence of the Shift Lead or Team Leader.

- Knowledge of TriArmor spray booth operation and safety hazards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead small groups.
- Ability to read and interpret BAC shop documents.
- Ability to understand and react to job schedules.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Demonstrated ability to operate overhead and JIB cranes.
- Ability to read measuring devices.
- Competent in basic math operations.
- High level of product knowledge of BAC's models and parts.
- Effective written communication skills.
- Demonstrated oral communication skills.
- Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum of one year experience in the department is preferred.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement tools.
- Computer competency with MS Excel.
- Flexibility to work at multiple department work stations.
- Ability to work on cross-functional teams.
Additional Information
- Lifting up to 50lbs is required.
- Occasional work at heights of up to 20 feet.
- Standing expected up to 80% of the time.
- Working hours can include any of three shifts, generally scheduled for forty hours a week.
- Some weekend overtime is to be expected.
- Working temperatures include fluctuations within the plant and ambient outside temperatures.
