Overview

The Journeyman Welder position at MidAmerican Energy Company involves performing welding duties under general supervision, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company procedures. The role requires the ability to produce welds that meet the standards of the Office of Pipeline Safety and includes responsibilities such as operating welding equipment, interpreting drawings, and training other employees.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties of Utility Operator and Journeyman-Gas.
• Produce welds in accordance with Company procedures and OPS-192 standards.
• Set up, adjust, and operate welding equipment.
• Make welded joints in pipeline and service installations.
• Fabricate or repair metal parts and reinforce or resurface metal parts.
• Utilize knowledge of metal reactions to heat and proper welding techniques.
• Interpret drawings and perform measurements for piping systems.
• Lead welding of gas systems and equipment.
• Operate main drilling, stopping, and tapping equipment.
• Maintain a neat and safe work area.
• Lead, train, and instruct employees in their work.

Requirements

• Must possess qualifications and ability to produce acceptable welds.
• CDL required at time of or within six months of hire.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
