Overview

The Fab Tech - Welder I position at Hydro Extrusions involves identifying proper welding materials, setting welding parameters, and demonstrating welding techniques in a fast-paced assembly environment. Hydro is a leading aluminium extrusion business with a commitment to sustainability and a diverse, inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities

• Identify proper welding wire and alloy for the applicable base metal.
• Change wire, rollers, tips, diffusers, nozzles, and set proper tension on rollers.
• Set proper welding parameters including voltage and wire speed.
• Demonstrate competency in GMAW techniques with solid wire on aluminum in various positions.
• Perform post welding treatment including brushing, cleaning, straightening, and ensuring weld quality.
• Pass the Welding Performance Test during the interview process.
• Handle several hundred small welds in a single shift.

Requirements

• Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
• Ability to stand on hard surfaces while working.
• Ability to work in non-climate-controlled temperatures.
• Commitment to participate in continuous improvement.
• Technical training desired with a focus in Welding.
• Welding certification preferred.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment.
