Overview
The Baker Company is offering a $500 sign on bonus for this position after 90 days of fulltime employment. Join our manufacturing team and help build biological safety cabinets used in critical laboratory and healthcare settings. As a Welder, your craftsmanship will directly contribute to high-quality equipment designed to protect people and scientific research worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Welds or tack welds metal parts together using various welding equipment.
- Fills cavities or corrects malformation in lead parts and hammers out bulges and bends in metal workpieces.
- Examines workpiece for defects and measures workpiece to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Climbs ladders to assemble structures.
- Moves parts on low lifts.
- Tests and inspects welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
- Grinds metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture.
- Maintains equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Focuses on quality to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Uses Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste.
Requirements
- Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs periodically.
- Must be able to assist others in 2 person lifting requirements up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to stand, stoop, crawl, climb or bend for up to 8 hours.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- TIG welding experience required and must be able to pass a flat TIG welding test.
- Must be able to interpret mechanical drawings and read job specifications.
- Understand Bill of Materials and identify material types and gauges.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
