Job Description

Overview

This position is an instructional role focused on teaching welding practices, including gas and electric welding, in accordance with educational policies. The instructor will utilize the College's learning management system and report to the Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and instructs assigned courses to promote student success.
  • Evaluates student learning and objective achievement and provides feedback.
  • Selects appropriate materials and equipment for discipline or program use and ensures proper care and safety.
  • Adheres to and enforces the administrative policies and procedures of the College.
  • Assists in implementing College policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the College Mission Statement.
  • Keeps current in the discipline or program areas taught.
  • Assists in College recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform welding practices to industry standards to ensure safety of staff, students, facilities, and equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability in areas such as Oxy-Acetylene cutting, welding and brazing, Carbon Arc cutting, blueprint reading for welders, metallurgy, metal fabrication, and various welding techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of welding safety standards and practices.
  • Experience in instructing students of varying skill levels.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of College mission, policies, procedures, and services.
  • Proficient in the use of technology.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Postsecondary training or certification in welding technology or a related field.
  • Three (3) years’ teaching experience is preferred.
  • Three (3) years’ work experience in the field is preferred.
