Overview
The Adjunct Welding Technology Instructor is responsible for providing quality and industry-standard instruction in welding topics through seated, online, and lab courses. The role includes maintaining program equipment, ensuring lab safety, and staying updated with industry practices.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge in the teaching discipline.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
- Employ appropriate teaching strategies to communicate subject matter.
- Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
- Establish and follow meaningful learning objectives.
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Teach classes as assigned in a multi-campus environment.
- Serve as faculty academic advisor for students.
- Participate in College committees as assigned.
- Direct students in laboratory classes and assist with lab assignments.
- Ensure availability of equipment and materials for classes.
Requirements
- Associate degree in welding from an accredited college or university.
- At least three years of experience as a professional welder.
- Experience in SMAW (stick), GMAW (mig), and GTAW (tig) welding processes.
- Knowledge of oxy-fuel and plasma arc cutting processes preferred.
- Knowledge of basic welding symbols used in the industry.
- AWS certifications or knowledge of AWS competencies preferred.
- Previous teaching experience at a community college or university preferred.
- Experience using instructional technologies and teaching online courses preferred.
