Overview
The General Maintenance Technician I at Pitt Community College performs a variety of general maintenance duties under supervision, including metal stud fabricating, drywall installation, and painting. The role requires being on call for emergency assistance related to maintenance of college buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry maintenance duties including cutting doors and installing new windows.
- Construct, assemble, and install lightweight steel or aluminum stud framing.
- Measure, cut, fit, and secure drywall panels.
- Tape, mud, sand, and paint surfaces.
- Perform routine/preventative maintenance on various systems.
- Maintain records and operate a computer-based work order system.
- Utilize a variety of equipment including forklifts and mechanic's tools.
- Provide on-call service for emergency maintenance on nights and weekends.
- Remove broken tree limbs and assist Electrical and HVAC as needed.
- Perform duties during inclement weather including storm clean up and snow removal.
- Complete other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Vocational/technical education in a related maintenance field or at least four years of experience.
- Experience in drywall, framing, and painting.
- Working knowledge of construction tools and safety procedures.
- Must possess and maintain a valid N.C. driver's license and complete CDL training within the first year of employment.
