Overview
Transco Rail Services, part of Marmon Holdings and backed by Berkshire Hathaway, provides full-service railcar repair and maintenance across North America. The Railcar Repair Technician is responsible for conducting repairs and maintenance on tank cars while ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars.
- Use current repair procedures and conduct railcar inspections.
- Meet customer expectations to ensure satisfaction.
- Complete necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information.
- Maintain all required certifications and demonstrate familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
- Perform welding repairs.
- Complete other work-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to use hand tools and equipment for repairs.
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Must handle and complete basic railcar repairs and inspections.
- Demonstrate strong customer relations and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work safely and follow proper procedures.
- Must work in all types of weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Must be able to stoop for extended periods and move from kneeling to standing.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Must pass company physical exam.

Additional Information
- Travel to customer sites with a company vehicle is required, with some overnight stays.
