Job Description

Overview

The Santa Clarita Community College District is seeking a Welding Technology Instructor for a high-priority, full-time tenure track position starting August 14, 2026. The role involves teaching welding and metal fabrication courses while promoting student success and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches a full schedule of welding and metal fabrication courses at various locations.
  • Provides instruction to students and assesses their progress toward course objectives.
  • Oversees outreach efforts for the Welding program to ensure student persistence and retention.
  • Promotes student awareness of safety standards and delivers instruction aligned with industry-recognized skills.
  • Implements and ensures compliance with AWS SENSE entry-level curriculum across all applicable welding courses.
  • Maintains compliance with accreditation standards of regional and national accrediting agencies.
  • Develops and revises program and course curriculum in response to workforce needs.
  • Participates in department, division, and college committees and governance.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development related to best practices in instruction.
  • Participates in outreach efforts to attract new students into the program.

Requirements

  • Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential in Welding Technology, or a Bachelor's degree with two years of relevant experience, or an Associate degree with six years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of community college students.
  • Proof of current LADBS certification or ASME Section IX (6G) certification.
  • Experience teaching Career Education courses at high school and post-secondary levels.
  • Proficiency in operating standard metal fabrication equipment and delivering instruction through online formats.
