Overview
The City of Glendora is seeking dedicated individuals for the Public Works Maintenance Worker position in the Facilities and Streets Division. Ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic and a desire to serve the public while working in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Participates in sandblasting, chemically cleaning, and painting surfaces.
- Uses equipment and tools such as sandblasters, airless pump machines, and rollers.
- Repairs and replaces concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and other concrete structures.
- Maintains city streets and alleys by patching with hot or cold asphalt mix.
- Clears storm drains and catch basins.
- Sets up traffic control and safety zones.
- Installs and maintains street signs and street markings.
- Engages in various construction and repairs including framing, dry-walling, painting, plumbing, and electrical.
- Performs regular maintenance activities such as replacing HVAC filters and changing light bulbs.
- Answers emergency calls from the public and takes appropriate action.
- Works in inclement weather and performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in maintenance or construction work.
- Ability to obtain a Class B California Driver’s license.
- Satisfactory driving record.
- Working knowledge of common tools and equipment used in construction and maintenance work.
- Basic safety precautions and procedures knowledge.
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
Additional Information
- This position may require emergency call outs in the evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Practical testing and interviews will occur on the same day, date to be determined.
