Overview
The City of Whitefish, Montana is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker for the Parks & Recreation Department. This seasonal position will be filled for the approximate time period of June 2026 - August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of buildings, grounds and parks.
- Orient, train and supervise the work activities of temporary employees and community service workers.
- Assist in the repair and installation of sprinkler lines and heads.
- Assist in Urban Forestry techniques in removal, pruning, planting, care, and treatment of urban trees.
- Operate various types of equipment such as mowers, tractors, and backhoes.
- Perform semi-skilled interior and exterior building maintenance including painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
- Be available for emergency call-outs during off time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Two years of experience in repair and maintenance work, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in parks maintenance.
- Working knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
- Skill in the operation of listed tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical materials.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Valid Montana State Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of Turf Irrigation and Urban Forestry.
