Overview
The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Mechanical Services, is seeking a full-time Welder Mechanic II to perform supervisory duties and a wide range of journeyman level welding and mechanical work on NHDOT fleet equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform supervisory duties in the welding shop.
- Maintain steel inventory to meet shop and NHDOT agency needs.
- Keep records and approve work.
- Design, install, upgrade, and maintain fleet equipment hydraulic systems.
- Work with computer-controlled hydraulic software/hardware, sensors, and programming.
- Assemble new trucks, prototype bodies, spreaders, and plow mounts.
- Weld and cut with oxy-acetylene torch, plasma cutter, wire feed, and stick welding in all positions.
- Operate metal fabricating equipment and tools, mobile crane, and lift systems.
- Perform equipment maintenance, calibrations, lubrication, and cleaning.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Equivalent combination of 3 years of education and experience after completion of high school.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-B) with air brakes endorsement.
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet minimum standards established by the hiring agency.
- Applicant must provide own standard assortment of automotive mechanic tools.
- Must be capable of passing Bureau welding test.
- Two years of experience as a welder or equivalency credential and completion of apprenticeship training (6000 hours) as a welder.
- One year of experience as a welder in addition to the apprenticeship training.
- Must obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-B) with air brakes endorsement within 12 months after hiring.
