Overview

The Bldg/Grnds Spec III position involves the operation and maintenance of equipment and grounds at the McCrady Training Center and other SCARNG training sites. The role requires hands-on work with various machinery and tools, as well as landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform operation and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and related grounds equipment.
• Operate and maintain machinery including agricultural tractors, loaders, man-lifts, lawn mowers, bulldozers, and chain saws.
• Change oils, fluids, belts, and lubricate equipment prior to use.
• Use tools and welding equipment to build, fabricate, and repair parts for equipment.
• Conduct landscaping and grounds maintenance.
• Remove dead trees caused by lightning strikes and bug infestation, grind stumps, and remove debris.
• Transport and haul equipment to perform daily job functions.

Requirements

• A high school diploma.
• Custodial or grounds keeping experience directly related to the area of employment.
• Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s license.
• Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and stand for long periods.
• Ability to climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50/75 lbs.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, hot, hazardous, and noisy locations, and in adverse weather conditions.
• Preferred experience in horticulture with certification and/or grounds maintenance.
