Overview
The Saw Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of sawing equipment to cut materials to precise specifications. This role requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate various types of saws according to established procedures.
- Set up and adjust saw machines, including blade selection, speed, and cutting angles.
- Monitor machine operation to ensure proper functioning and identify potential issues.
- Load and unload materials onto the saw, ensuring proper positioning and securing.
- Measure and mark materials for accurate cutting.
- Handle and move materials safely, using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to determine specifications.
- Measure and inspect finished workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
- Identify and report any defects or deviations from quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance on sawing equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and blade changes.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Clear machine jams and perform basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate records of production, including materials used and quantities produced.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating saws in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong measurement and mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
