Overview
We are seeking a skilled Metal Rack Repair & Modification Technician to join our team in Anderson, SC. This role involves repairing, modifying, and fabricating metal racks returned from customers, with welding accounting for roughly 50% of the workload. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced in MIG welding and metal fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Assess the condition of returned metal racks and provide accurate information for repair and modification quotes.
- Perform metal rack repairs, modifications, and adjustments according to customer specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints to ensure all assemblies meet customer standards.
- Set up welding equipment and perform MIG welding using both manual and automatic welding systems.
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld components into position prior to welding.
- Conduct final inspections of welded components, performing spot repairs as needed to ensure structural integrity.
- Enter accurate quantities, materials used, and time spent into the company’s data collection system.
- Operate forklifts safely to move materials, racks, and finished components within the facility.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in compliance with company SOPs and OSHA regulations.
- Travel to customer sites as required to perform repairs and modifications on location.
- Follow all company safety rules, guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- Previous experience in MIG welding or metal fabrication required.
- Recent college graduate in MIG Welding is accepted.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of welding equipment setup and operation.
Additional Information
- Shift options are Monday - Thursday from 6am to 4pm OR 4pm to 2:30am.
