Overview
The Equipment Technician II is responsible for performing technical, mechanical, and general repair or maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment. This role requires higher-level diagnostic skills and major component rebuilding, differentiating it from the first level in the series.
Responsibilities
- Rebuilds or repairs major and minor components of vehicles and equipment.
- Transports and test drives equipment while performing safety inspections.
- Diagnoses equipment malfunctions using onboard computers and testing devices.
- Performs preventative maintenance and safety compliance checks.
- Conducts major and minor repairs on vehicle bodies, including painting and structural adjustments.
- Welds components for function or safety as needed.
- Installs and fabricates accessories and safety devices for vehicles.
- Assists other departments with operational duties as needed.
- Estimates time, parts, and tools required for repairs.
- Fabrics parts and special tools according to specifications.
- Makes recommendations for design changes to improve equipment performance.
- Communicates professionally with coworkers and the public.
- Follows safety guidelines and practices in all job duties.
