Job Description

Overview

The Welder I position at AMETEK involves fabricating and assembling parts using various welding techniques, with a focus on TIG welding of thin gauge aluminum, stainless steel, and Inconel. The role requires reading blueprints, ensuring safety and quality standards, and performing fit-ups, all within a maintenance and repair business unit located in Tulsa, OK.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble parts using welders, cutters, shapers, and measuring tools.
  • TIG weld thin gauge aluminum, stainless steel, and Inconel based on blueprints.
  • Set up welding jobs according to work specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings for welding requirements.
  • Ensure work is completed safely and meets quality standards.
  • Perform own fit-ups on units being built.
  • Use air powered tools such as die grinders, cut-off tools, and air drills.
  • Comprehend manuals and blueprints.
  • Read calipers and other measuring equipment.
  • Observe safety and security procedures.
  • Use equipment and materials properly.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in TIG Welding.
  • Preferred experience welding Aerospace parts.
  • Experience welding Stainless, Aluminum, and Inconel.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience welding to AWS D17.1 preferred.
  • Must pass weld test for appearance, penetration, bend, and x-ray on aluminum and stainless steel.
  • Strong troubleshooting knowledge using measuring gauges and test equipment.
  • Strong ethical work habits.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, and customers.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.

Additional Information

  • Work will be conducted mostly indoors in a shop environment.
  • Exposure to heat or cold will be limited to outdoor walking or shipping activities.
  • PPE such as safety glasses and safety toed shoes are required in designated areas.
  • Must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
