Responsibilities
- Inspect, erect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all mechanical equipment.
- Fabricate tanks, structural steel, and perform all kinds of welding, brazing, and cutting.
- Inspect equipment for defects, misalignment, and wear.
- Install bearings, pins, bushings, gears, and parts.
- Lubricate equipment during installation and repair.
- Dismantle, clean, replace, and repair equipment and piping.
- Make sketches for personal use.
- Handle rigging equipment and erect scaffolds.
- Operate machine tools and power tools.
- Advise on necessary equipment shutdowns.
- Make temporary and permanent repairs.
- Adjust equipment for proper operation.
- Assemble and align gears, bearings, and shafts.
- Receive instructions, prints, and job orders.
- Interpret drawings and sketches.
- Select materials and equipment for jobs.
- Lay out work, make sketches, and determine stock sizes.
- Clean and prepare surfaces for welding.
- Make all types and sizes of welds.
- Build up worn or defective surfaces.
- Use burning equipment to dismantle equipment.
- Cut material to size by burning.
- Perform brazing.
- Exercise all safety precautions.
- Handle materials and equipment to and from job sites.
- Keep the working area clean.
