Responsibilities

• Inspect, erect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all mechanical equipment.
• Fabricate tanks, structural steel, and perform all kinds of welding, brazing, and cutting.
• Inspect equipment for defects, misalignment, and wear.
• Install bearings, pins, bushings, gears, and parts.
• Lubricate equipment during installation and repair.
• Dismantle, clean, replace, and repair equipment and piping.
• Make sketches for personal use.
• Handle rigging equipment and erect scaffolds.
• Operate machine tools and power tools.
• Advise on necessary equipment shutdowns.
• Make temporary and permanent repairs.
• Adjust equipment for proper operation.
• Assemble and align gears, bearings, and shafts.
• Receive instructions, prints, and job orders.
• Interpret drawings and sketches.
• Select materials and equipment for jobs.
• Lay out work, make sketches, and determine stock sizes.
• Clean and prepare surfaces for welding.
• Make all types and sizes of welds.
• Build up worn or defective surfaces.
• Use burning equipment to dismantle equipment.
• Cut material to size by burning.
• Perform brazing.
• Exercise all safety precautions.
• Handle materials and equipment to and from job sites.
• Keep the working area clean.
