Overview
The Welder in Training position involves performing welding on various structures and weldments according to code requirements and specifications. The role requires a broad knowledge of welding technology and experience, reporting directly to the Production Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Perform all position welding on structures and weldments according to code requirements.
- Set up welding equipment and obtain necessary electrodes and tools for jobs.
- Examine welds for size, penetration, and quality.
- Prepare surfaces to be welded using various tools.
- Operate material handling equipment as needed.
- Read blueprints and work instructions accurately.
- Provide instruction and guidance to less experienced employees.
- Maintain a clean work area and follow safety procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate initiative and enthusiasm for professional development.
Requirements
- Technical Trades School in Welding.
- High school GED required.
- 1+ years of welding experience.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Effective communication skills.
