Overview
The Lead Master Mechanic position involves performing skilled mechanical work for the repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles and heavy mechanical equipment. This role also includes supervising lower classification mechanics and technicians, ensuring quality inspections before vehicle release.
Responsibilities
- Provides guidance, assistance, and training to other staff members.
- Assigns, monitors, and evaluates work.
- Diagnoses and repairs difficult mechanical problems.
- Performs general and specialized mechanical repairs and maintenance.
- Inspects, tests, and repairs various engine components and systems.
- Conducts routine and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Performs welding and fabrication tasks for equipment repairs.
- Operates various machinery and tools for vehicle maintenance.
- Maintains fuel island and validates keys.
- Tests machinery and reports problems.
- Assists in maintaining inventory of parts and equipment.
- Makes emergency service calls for disabled vehicles.
- Directly supervises employees in the Fleet Management Department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree in mechanics preferred.
- Three years of journey-level work experience in automotive/mechanical repair.
- Valid ASE Master Auto Mechanic certification.
- Valid ASE Master Truck Mechanic certification and/or EVT certification.
- Valid Air Conditioning/CFC Recovery certification.
- Valid Georgia Driver's License; Class A Commercial Driver's License preferred.
