Overview
The Maintenance Mechanic I - WWTP position involves performing various semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of process systems at the Wastewater Treatment Facility and sewage lift stations, while also providing maintenance assistance to other City departments as needed.
Responsibilities
- Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with customers.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
- Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair on wastewater plant and lift station equipment.
- Inspect plant facilities and lift stations for correct and efficient working conditions.
- Weld and fabricate parts and equipment for maintenance and repair.
- Maintain inventory of tools and equipment for maintenance activities.
- Maintain records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Remove snow and ice as assigned.
- Clean and maintain plant facilities and grounds.
- Assist in dewatering and composting operations.
- Assist in collection system maintenance as needed.
- Operate and maintain construction and maintenance equipment.
- Be on call after hours as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One to two years of experience comparable to that of a Maintenance Mechanic I.
- Completion of the twelfth grade or equivalent, with specialized training in industrial maintenance.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and maintain insurability.
- Ability to obtain a State of Nebraska Class II Wastewater certificate within 12 months of hire.
- Knowledge of record keeping and report preparation.
- Understanding of treatment plant components and their proper working order.
- Familiarity with advanced mechanical and plumbing practices.
- Basic knowledge of electrical principles and safe work practices.
- Ability to use basic computer software and asset management software.
Additional Information
- Working hours are Monday-Thursday: 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Friday: 7 a.m.-11 a.m.
- Candidates are subject to a background check.
