Job Description

Overview

The City of Gresham is seeking Seasonal Public Utility Workers (PUW I) for various Public Works Divisions to maintain the city's stormwater and wastewater infrastructures, drinking water resources, and roadways. These positions are ideal for physically active individuals who enjoy working outdoors and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and testing activities on the City's sewer, storm water, streets, and water systems.
  • Operate a variety of tools and equipment such as shovels, picks, drills, welders, and mowers.
  • Support good roadways, clean water delivery, and environmentally sound processing of storm water and sewer waste.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate or have passed the GED test.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the date of hire.
  • Ability to lift objects ranging from 25 to 85 pounds.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.

Additional Information

  • Work will commence in May and conclude in October 2026.
  • Duration of each assignment is six months.
  • Work schedules will be either 5 days/8 hours per day or 4 days/10 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
