Overview

E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. (E2) is a professional services firm established in 1988 that specializes in a full spectrum of engineering services. The Welding Inspector will provide inspection of contractor’s quality of work related to welding of steel pipe on pipeline construction projects, ensuring compliance with client policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Verify proper welding procedures are used by contractors for each project.
• Keep a log of inspections that will be part of the final records provided to the client.
• Verify that contractors’ welders are properly qualified in their procedures.
• Ensure that radiographers’ certifications are current and correct.
• Maintain pipe stencil information and record details for any pipe joint that is cut.
• Coordinate with contractors performing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections.
• Assign a unique number to each welder on each project.
• Verify that each weld has a unique x-ray number assigned.
• Visually inspect each weld joint prior to backfill, HDD pull-through, or jack and bore.
• Ensure compliance with API 1104 specs for weld joints.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Minimum of three years weld inspection experience on construction projects for natural gas transmission pipelines.
• Knowledge of API Standard 1104.
• Competent in 49 CFR 192, ASME 31.8, and applicable OSHA standards.
• AWS/CWI or CPWI welding inspection certification.

Additional Information

• Work may be performed at construction sites, client right-of-way, and occasionally at the corporate office.
• Frequent physical activities including climbing, lifting, and visual inspections in various environmental conditions.
