Overview
E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. (E2) is a professional services firm established in 1988 that specializes in a full spectrum of engineering services. The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is responsible for inspecting welding procedures and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Be familiar with the approved construction drawings and Company specifications.
- Understand the Contract document as it relates to their duties on the project.
- Have a basic understanding of welding techniques, positions, consumables, and maintain a detailed inspector's logbook.
- Complete and submit relevant inspection reports that accurately describe the work performed.
- Take a proactive approach to safety on the job site and report safety issues.
- Plan and organize inspection duties in advance.
- Discuss design changes or material substitutions with the Construction Manager and obtain proper Company approval.
- Verify all materials used in the installation comply with Company requirements.
- Keep the Chief Inspector aware of any problems or anticipated friction points.
- Possess an understanding of the relationship between quality assurance, quality control, and inspection procedures.
- Verify a welding procedure is established and that each welder is qualified.
- Monitor the quality of the welds performed per the WPS and client specifications.
- Assure repairs made to correct defects in a pipe weld satisfy the requirements.
- Ensure all welding materials are of proper type and quality and stored according to manufacturers' specifications.
- Track all materials used for pipeline construction, including joint numbers and heat numbers.
- Ensure compliance with all project-specific environmental requirements.
- Inform Chief Inspector immediately of any safety or construction deviations.
Requirements
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) through the American Welding Society.
- Documented and verifiable work experience related to transmission/process piping and API-1104.
- Minimum of either NACE Coating Inspection Program (CIP) Level 1 Certification or AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector Certification.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Obtain Operator Qualification (OQ) status as required by the project.
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members and client personnel.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely to prepare reports and correspondence.
- Skilled with M.S. Office suite.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

- Frequent ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
