Overview
The Maintenance Worker provides a variety of skilled maintenance work to support Public Works to ensure the safety and security of County residents and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Perform snow and ice control to county standards.
- Operate vehicles, heavy equipment, hand and power equipment safely and efficiently.
- Document time spent on projects and materials used.
- Provide work direction to temporary employees.
- Clear and grub brush and trees from public lands.
- Remove debris and excess material from culverts and ditches.
- Conduct activities such as sodding, spraying weeds, and mowing.
- Repair and conduct minor maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Build and/or widen roads and trails, and perform road grading.
- Load and/or haul materials such as salt, sand, and gravel.
- Set up work zone traffic control measures in conformance with the MMUTCD.
- Maintain County park buildings and facilities.
- Install, repair, and maintain irrigation systems.
- Inspect and maintain grounds and facilities.
- Repair, salvage, install, and replace highway signs.
- Create and design sign faces with CAD software.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of full-time work experience in highway/road or park maintenance.
- Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake designation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Class 'A' CDL with specific endorsements within six months of employment.
Additional Information
- Work hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.
- Work schedules are subject to change based on department needs.
