Overview
The Streets Maintenance Worker performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled repairs and maintenance work for the City, operating equipment related to water, sewer, streets, and parks maintenance in a drug and alcohol-free environment. This role requires physical labor outdoors and emphasizes teamwork, initiative, and professionalism in providing quality municipal services.
Responsibilities
- Assists with planning, scheduling, and implementation of construction and maintenance activities.
- Inspects and repairs chlorine injection equipment, pumping stations, reservoirs, meters, streets, drainage systems, and sewer systems.
- Maintains records related to inspections, maintenance activity, water supply, and consumption.
- Determines location of utility lines prior to excavation.
- Responds to complaints regarding water leaks and pressure loss.
- Contacts residents about service interruptions and explains timelines.
- Mows and maintains parks and open spaces, including lawns and sprinkler systems.
- Inspects and performs routine maintenance on drinking fountains and restrooms.
- Sweeps, washes, paints, and repairs outdoor tables and slabs.
- Performs minor maintenance on open space structures.
- Maintains and adjusts turf care equipment and tools.
- Operates various construction and maintenance equipment.
- Collects and disposes of solid waste from buildings and grounds.
- Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for events.
- Assists in the construction of new open space facilities.
- Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and tools.
- Drives trucks for loading, hauling, and unloading equipment.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Carries out labor for construction and maintenance projects.
- Services water supply and sewer lift pumps.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Scheduled to work On-Call hours on a rotational basis.
