Job Description

Overview

The Service Worker Technician (Public Works) is responsible for operating equipment and performing specialized maintenance work on parks and facilities, including tasks such as equipment repair, carpentry, general construction, and irrigation projects. The role requires collaboration with a team to ensure safety and efficiency in operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain various heavy and light equipment and vehicles.
  • Assist in leading a team and provide training and guidance.
  • Ensure availability of tools and materials for projects.
  • Perform carpentry and general construction work.
  • Conduct irrigation system repairs and maintenance.
  • Manage weed and pest control tasks.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare and complete various reports and logs.
  • Communicate with supervisors and other departments.
  • Stay updated on laws and trends in the profession.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Vocational training in mechanical repair, carpentry, or related fields.
  • Three years of experience in mechanical repair, carpentry, or equipment operation.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license required.
  • May require a Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Specific experience requirements for specialized roles such as Small Engine Mechanic, Spray Technician, Irrigation Technician, and Carpenter.
