Overview
Join us in supporting a Seattle WA shipyard with your experience and expertise! This role requires proactive and detail-oriented professionals to engage in Pipe Fitting/Welding tasks, ensuring excellence in every aspect of the job.
Responsibilities
- Perform precision pipe welding tasks to ensure leak-free welds in marine environments.
- Torch cut, clean, and true pipes for optimal fit and function according to NAVSEA standards.
- Assess job sites, particularly those with combustible materials, ensuring safety for all personnel engaged in hot work activities.
- Read and interpret weld symbols, blueprints, schematics, and job specifications.
- Certify to Navy/ABS standards by passing required vision tests and demonstrating proficiency in pipe welding in the 6GR position.
- Conduct x-ray testing to verify the integrity of welds.
- Perform basic pipefitting and brazing tasks as required.
- Participate in system upgrades and routine maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with proof.
- Must be able to obtain a 'DBIDS' Badge.
- Maritime OSHA 10 certification required.
- Previous shipyard experience required.
- Extensive knowledge of TIG welding processes and techniques specific to marine applications.
- Proficiency with 6011, 6010, 7018, and/or sil-braze rods.
- Ability to pass Navy/ABS certification tests, including vision and welding in 6GR position.
- Strong ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and specifications according to NAVSEA standards.
- Experience with x-ray testing of welds to ensure structural integrity.
- Basic pipefitting and brazing experience is a plus.
Additional Information
- Contract Duration: Starts asap and goes open ended.
- Working Hours: 50-60 hours per week.
- Diverse shifts include 8-hour, 10-hour, and 12-hour shifts.
- Monday through Friday with overtime, and weekends as requested by the client.
