Overview
The Pipefitter is responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical piping systems. They analyze blueprints to determine the necessary pipes and the most efficient installation methods.
Responsibilities
- Lay out, cut, and fabricate systems of pipes, valves, traps, and regulators from blueprints or verbal instructions.
- Maintain and repair all types of valves, regulators, traps, and related equipment.
- Maintain and repair high pressure hydraulic systems, boilers, and associated piping and accessories.
- Make decisions on salvaging or scrapping equipment or parts for repair or replacement.
- Assist other crafts as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work shift work and rotating schedules, including overtime and call-outs.
- 4 years of manufacturing and/or heavy industrial experience in the skilled trade.
