The Welder position involves working on a pipeline construction team in St Albans, WV, focusing on welding for structural and high-pressure piping systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide welding support for cellulose (mild steel) and low hydrogen.
• Participate in pre-job planning and staging of equipment and resources.
• Coordinate work activities and oversee third-party contractors.
• Weld branch connections on high pressure natural gas pipeline systems.
• Perform shop fabrication welding of piping assemblies and hydro testing.
• Assist in the preparation of pre-job documentation.
• Review and create Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
• Ensure compliance with TransCanada's Operating Procedures and safety policies.
• Support emergency pipeline repairs for natural gas and oil systems.
• Hot tap high pressure pipelines.
• Complete other tasks as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3 or more years’ experience in pipeline construction or related field.
• Experience welding on high pressure natural gas and/or oil pipeline systems.
• High degree of respect for safe work habits and tool maintenance.
• Knowledge of labor, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal direction.
• Capacity to understand and apply site-specific procedures.
• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
• Willingness to learn and work towards continuous improvement.
• Ability to work with a computer for expense preparation and timesheet reporting.
• Knowledge of API 1104 welding regulations.
• Ability to pass welding test per API 1104 regulations prior to hiring.
• Post-secondary education in a related field or a welding certificate.
• Knowledge with TD Williamson tapping equipment.
• Familiarity with MS Office including Word and Excel.

Additional Information

• Must be willing to reside within one (1) hour driving distance of the St Albans, WV Construction Services shop.
• Travel often (75%) to support construction activities in other company locations.
• Position is overtime eligible and may require extended work hours.
