Job Description

Overview

The Utility Maintenance position involves performing labor related to the construction and maintenance of distribution and collection systems, including tasks such as sewer line cleaning, pipe repair, and operating various maintenance equipment. This role requires a high school diploma or GED and one year of related experience, with opportunities for advancement through different certified levels.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manhole and sewer line cleaning, pavement cutting, ditch digging, and pipe repair.
  • Install, maintain, and flush sewer lines and drinking water mains, repairing or replacing gate valves, fittings, and pumps.
  • Shut off broken sections of water mains.
  • Perform meter repair and meter box repair or replacement.
  • Maintain and operate sewer lift stations.
  • Inspect the collection system using sewer cameras.
  • Disinfect water in the event of water line breaks.
  • Set forms and pour concrete to replace sidewalks and driveways after repairs.
  • Inspect and maintain street drainage systems and sewer systems.
  • Respond to complaints regarding water leaks, pressure loss, or no water.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Operate high velocity trucks and other construction equipment.
  • Complete daily work orders relating to inspections and maintenance.
  • Engage in traffic control and set up work zone safety.
  • Conduct on-call duties for emergency repairs after hours, weekends, and holidays.
