Overview
The Maintenance Worker for ULM Sewer Line performs routine tasks related to the construction, repair, and maintenance of the Town's water distribution and wastewater collection systems under direct supervision.
Responsibilities
- Constructs, maintains, and replaces water and sewer mains or service lines.
- Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs failures in water and sewer mains.
- Operates various construction equipment and builds manholes and clean-outs.
- Installs and repairs fire hydrants and valves.
- Prepares trenches and cleans sewer lines.
- Excavates water and sewer mains and services for repair.
- Operates sewer cleaning equipment as needed.
- Disassembles, cleans, repairs, and tests defective or worn parts on water meters.
- Maintains water leaks and sewer lines and installs water meters.
- Completes work order tickets for each task performed.
- Operates various light to heavy construction equipment and tools.
- Conducts daily inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Identifies and informs supervisor of potential hazards and status of work activities.
- Adheres to personnel, safety, and department policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
- Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License within six months from the date of hire.
- Related utility operation or equipment operation experience is preferred.
- Must be skilled in operating heavy to light construction equipment and power tools.
