Overview
The Plant Maintenance Mechanic position involves performing mechanical and specialty work related to the operation and maintenance of water reclamation systems and water treatment plant systems. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintains raw water/wastewater treatment equipment including clarifiers and filters.
- Performs preventive maintenance activities such as cleaning and greasing pumps.
- Repairs, rebuilds, or replaces motors, pumps, and other mechanical components.
- Checks pumps and gauges to ensure proper operation.
- Assists in repairing and troubleshooting electronic low voltage circuitry.
- Maintains records on pumps, wells, and motors.
- Handles liquid and dry chemicals, including hazardous materials.
- Maintains inventory of parts and supplies.
- Performs building and grounds maintenance duties as assigned.
- Operates light duty equipment such as forklifts.
- Operates and handles general maintenance hand tools.
- Assists in annual inventory reporting and record keeping.
- Operates City Works to track preventive maintenance schedules.
- Responds to routine requests for information from employees.
- Prepares and processes various forms and reports.
- Communicates via telephone and two-way radio.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One or more years of experience in Mechanics, Pump Maintenance, or related fields.
- Valid driver's license.
Additional Information
- Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, with occasional after hours and weekend work.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Must work cooperatively with others.
