Job Description

Overview

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic position involves performing mechanical and specialty work related to the operation and maintenance of water reclamation systems and water treatment plant systems. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains raw water/wastewater treatment equipment including clarifiers and filters.
  • Performs preventive maintenance activities such as cleaning and greasing pumps.
  • Repairs, rebuilds, or replaces motors, pumps, and other mechanical components.
  • Checks pumps and gauges to ensure proper operation.
  • Assists in repairing and troubleshooting electronic low voltage circuitry.
  • Maintains records on pumps, wells, and motors.
  • Handles liquid and dry chemicals, including hazardous materials.
  • Maintains inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Performs building and grounds maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Operates light duty equipment such as forklifts.
  • Operates and handles general maintenance hand tools.
  • Assists in annual inventory reporting and record keeping.
  • Operates City Works to track preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Responds to routine requests for information from employees.
  • Prepares and processes various forms and reports.
  • Communicates via telephone and two-way radio.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of experience in Mechanics, Pump Maintenance, or related fields.
  • Valid driver's license.

Additional Information

  • Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, with occasional after hours and weekend work.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Must work cooperatively with others.
