Job Description

Overview

This is an adjunct faculty position for teaching part-time in the Visual Arts & Design department at Rogue Community College, focusing on the Jewelry and Metalsmithing program. The position will remain open until June 2026, with applications reviewed as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs students in various settings including classrooms and labs.
  • Prepares and utilizes instructional support materials such as syllabi and media.
  • Develops and communicates a student assessment process related to course objectives.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and helps prepare student art for exhibitions.
  • Engages in curriculum planning and development as necessary.
  • Represents the Art Department and college to the community and organizations.
  • Responsible for departmental equipment and security of instructional materials.
  • Adapts learning procedures for online/distance learning environments.
  • Communicates effectively with a diverse range of students and staff.
  • Organizes learning experiences for traditional and non-traditional learners.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Fine Arts (MFA) with a concentration in Metalsmithing or Jewelry is required.
  • An MFA in a related field with at least 18 quarter credits or 12 semester graduate credits in relevant courses is also acceptable.
  • Experience teaching jewelry and metalsmithing is required; post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of various jewelry and metalsmithing techniques and historical metalwork.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse students and staff.
  • Ability to adapt to various teaching situations and mentor students.
  • Ability to oversee and maintain the metalsmithing studio and related tools.
  • Willingness to work with non-traditional adult learners and teens.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
