Overview

The Master Vehicle Mechanic position involves performing skilled mechanical work related to the repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles and heavy mechanical equipment. The role includes providing guidance and training to staff, conducting repairs, and ensuring the proper functioning of various vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, assistance, and training to other staff members.
• Perform general mechanical repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance work.
• Inspect, test, and repair engine components and systems.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Conduct welding and fabrication tasks associated with equipment repairs.
• Operate a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools for vehicle repair.
• Perform fuel island maintenance and key validation.
• Test machinery and equipment for proper operations.
• Assist in maintaining inventory of parts, equipment, tools, or supplies.
• Make emergency service calls for disabled vehicles.
• Prepare and complete various forms, correspondence, and reports.
• Communicate via telephone and/or two-way radio.
• Respond to routine requests for information or assistance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in mechanics preferred.
• Three years previous experience and/or training in automotive/mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Valid ASE Master Auto Mechanic certification, ASE Master Truck Mechanic certification, or EVT certification required.
• Valid Air Conditioning/CFC Recovery certification required.
• Valid Georgia Driver's License required; valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License preferred.
