Overview

As a member of the Yard Team, the Yard Laborer will maintain the organization and cleanliness of the yard, support girder production, and ensure a safe working environment. This role is based in Channahon, IL, and reports to the local Yard Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the loading and unloading of materials and equipment components using forklifts and other equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and debris-free yard to support safety and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of the yard area, ensuring compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform general labor duties, including sweeping, cleaning, and disposing of waste materials.
  • Assist in the setup and preparation of work areas.
  • Support various yard operations as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.
  • Perform regular inventory counts and inspections to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Identify and report inventory discrepancies, damages, or shortages to the supervisor.
  • Assist in fulfilling orders by accurately counting, selecting, and preparing materials for delivery or internal use.
  • Support production activities by transporting materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals.
  • Operate machinery, such as skid steers, in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Conduct routine checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Follow all established safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents.
  • Wear and maintain the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Participate in safety meetings or trainings as required.
  • Work closely with other team members to facilitate seamless workflow and meet project deadlines.
