Overview
As a member of the Yard Team, the Yard Laborer will maintain the organization and cleanliness of the yard, support girder production, and ensure a safe working environment. This role is based in Channahon, IL, and reports to the local Yard Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the loading and unloading of materials and equipment components using forklifts and other equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and debris-free yard to support safety and operational efficiency.
- Conduct routine maintenance of the yard area, ensuring compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.
- Perform general labor duties, including sweeping, cleaning, and disposing of waste materials.
- Assist in the setup and preparation of work areas.
- Support various yard operations as needed.
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.
- Perform regular inventory counts and inspections to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Identify and report inventory discrepancies, damages, or shortages to the supervisor.
- Assist in fulfilling orders by accurately counting, selecting, and preparing materials for delivery or internal use.
- Support production activities by transporting materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals.
- Operate machinery, such as skid steers, in a safe and responsible manner.
- Conduct routine checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Follow all established safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents.
- Wear and maintain the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
- Report any safety hazards, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Participate in safety meetings or trainings as required.
- Work closely with other team members to facilitate seamless workflow and meet project deadlines.
