Overview

The Field Operator position is responsible for assisting in the preservation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems to ensure quality of life for Enid residents. The role involves operating various equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to customer complaints.

Responsibilities

• Pull hose and operate jet nozzle and root cutter for sewer line cleaning.
• Assist with closed circuit camera equipment operation.
• Help in the installation and repair of utility systems.
• Set barricades and traffic cones for traffic safety.
• Measure distances to determine pipe and manhole sizes.
• Operate power equipment for maintenance and inspection.
• Use hand tools for daily preventive maintenance.
• Use sledgehammer to dislodge stuck manhole covers.
• Operate dump truck and valve truck for equipment transport.
• Clean work area and maintain tools and equipment.
• Mow and weed eat lift stations.
• Collect overflow samples and file reports.
• Manually excavate and repair city utilities.
• Use concrete saws and forming for concrete work.
• Respond to customer call-ins and complaints.
• Provide assistance to other departments as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or six months related experience.
• Class D Wastewater license (within 6 months).
• Class D Water license (within 6 months).
• Class B CDL (within 6 months).
• Confined Space Certification (within 3 months).
• Trenching & Shoring Training (within 6 months).
• Ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.

Additional Information

• Regular 8 hour shift, typically 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
• 24-hour call, nights and weekends as required.
• Frequent exposure to changing weather conditions and high traffic areas.
