Overview
The Wastewater Collections Operator II, III, or IV position involves skilled work in operating and maintaining various construction and maintenance equipment for the City of St. George, with opportunities for salary progression and full city benefits.
Responsibilities
- Operates construction equipment such as loaders, backhoes, and dump trucks.
- Performs minor maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Excavates trenches and sewer lines, backfills holes, and clears plugged sewer lines.
- Assists in loading and unloading trucks and laying pipe in trenches.
- Programs flow meters and samplers and collects data using a laptop.
- Operates and maintains wastewater machinery with minimal guidance.
- Performs routine and emergency maintenance and repairs on equipment.
- Trains operators on equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Acts as a crew leader and provides professional service to the public.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years full-time experience in equipment operation and maintenance.
- Valid driver license and must obtain a Utah Commercial Driver License (CDL) learner permit within 30 days of hire.
- Must obtain a valid Utah Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within two months of hire.
- Certification by the Utah Department of Transportation in construction signing and flagging within six months of hire.
- Operator I certification must be acquired within six months of hire.
