Overview
The City of Lansing is seeking full-time Wastewater Maintenance Workers for one of the largest wastewater facilities in Michigan, offering a competitive wage and benefits package including paid vacation, sick, and holiday leave.
Responsibilities
- Monitors field pumping and regulator activities, regularly entering stations.
- Reads instruments to ensure flow rates are proper and activates additional pumps when necessary.
- Responds to alarms at facilities, performs troubleshooting, and proposes solutions.
- Enters confined spaces as required in accordance with safety procedures.
- Cleans, repairs, services, and operates a range of wastewater treatment equipment.
- Performs pipe-fitting tasks such as cutting and threading pipes.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
- Provides training and work direction to new or temporary workers.
- Drives and operates a pick-up truck for snow removal and towing.
- Mows grass, trims trees, and performs other groundskeeping activities.
- Sets up compliant traffic control.
- Fabrics parts and rebuilds equipment.
Requirements
- Must be able to operate standard transmission vehicles.
- Must live within a 20-mile radius of City limits.
- Must pass and maintain MDOT Traffic Regulator Certification.
- Must pass and maintain Confined Space Training and Certification.
- Must pass and maintain Powered Industrial Truck and Aerial Work Platform Certifications.
- Must participate in a rotating On-Call Schedule.
- Must possess and maintain a Michigan Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Four years of experience in the maintenance and repair of Wastewater Treatment Plant and/or Pumping Station equipment.
