Overview
The Construction Superintendent (Aviation and Vehicular Fuel) is responsible for overseeing the scheduling, coordination, and execution of field crew activities, ensuring timely project completion within budget while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of mechanical (fuel) related projects, including installation, modification, and demolition of fuel tanks and piping.
- Develop a Master Plan approach for the project.
- Execute, supervise, and maintain project manpower, milestone schedules, and material orders.
- Practice, promote, and develop mentoring of all trades and manpower levels.
- Enforce and implement the dictates and recommendations of the EHS Department.
- Complete all documentation required in the Health and Safety Plan.
- Consider and implement all EHS Requirements in the Planning and Coordination Phases.
- Document and ensure any required corrective measures are addressed and implemented.
- Review all daily and weekly scope of work activities with the Project Managers.
- Requisition, maintain, and account for tools, materials, and equipment with Fleet and Project Management.
- Monitor progress, performance, and quality of work for all Subcontractors and major Equipment Suppliers.
- Coordinate all required inspections with the Project Foreman and maintain good working relationships with inspectors.
- Review, analyze, and update Labor Hours/Job Costs Report information with project management on a weekly basis.
- Optimize project opportunity by field/pre-fabrication planning, BIM, organizing, and scheduling.
- Assist project management with schedule preparation and provide updates as required.
- Keep proper and complete documentation of the project as required.
- Provide required training, mentoring, coaching, and leadership for field personnel.
- Ensure accurate and complete cost coding of all time cards daily.
- Oversee all tradesmen at the project site.
- Ensure efficient project closeout, including completion of all punch list work and project records archiving.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years of previous experience in this position.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to understand Contract plans and specifications.
- Ability to perform accurate estimating and takeoffs for mechanical/civil systems.
- Strong organizational skills and habits.
- Positive attitude and ability to work in a high-paced environment.
- Ability to solve problems and present solutions.
- History and ability to maintain high attendance and punctuality.
- Traffic Control and work at Airports and Federal Government Facilities is a Plus.
- Knowledge of Proper Use of Survey Equipment.
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Certificates: OSHA 30-HOUR Construction, OSHA 40-HOUR HAZWOPER (a plus), Florida Advanced Traffic Control Supervisor (a plus), Florida Stormwater Inspector (a plus), NCCER Accreditation desired, FDOT CTQP Certifications as applicable.
- Drivers License required.
- Competent Person Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Trenching and Excavation procedures in a safe manner.
Additional Information
- Work is performed in outdoor settings and industrial settings, in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week, including weekend assignments as required.
